Where Can I Watch More Tales of the City
Where Is More Tales Of The City Streaming: Is It On Netflix, Hulu Or Prime?
More Tales Of The City is the sequel to the acclaimed miniseries, and here's where it can be found streaming and if it's on Netflix, Hulu or Prime.
Where can miniseries More Tales Of The City be found streaming, and is it available on Netflix, Hulu or Prime? Tales Of The City is based on a series of novels by author Armistead Maupin, which were originally serialized in the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper, starting in the mid-1970s. The first book and miniseries focused on the sweet but somewhat naive Mary Ann Singleton (Laura Linney, Ozark) and her romantic misadventures after moving into 28 Barbary Lane in San Francisco. This complex is run by Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis), a trans woman who forms a bond with most of her tenants, and Mary Ann soon becomes best friends with a gay man named Mouse.
While the first series of Tales Of The City was acclaimed and is today regarded as trailblazing in its depiction of LGBTQ characters on TV, it was met with huge controversy during its run in 1994 on PBS. The network eventually passed on producing follow-ups despite there being a wealth of material by Maupin to draw from, and sequel More Tales Of The City finally arrived in 1998. Despite the years-long gap between productions, this miniseries picks up weeks after the events of Tales Of The City, with most of the cast including Linney, Dukakis and Thomas Gibson (Criminal Minds) returning.
More Tales Of The City found Mary Anne and Mouse on a cruise, where the latter reconnects with old lover Jon (Billy Campbell, The Rocketeer) and the former meets a man with amnesia. This sequel wasn't greeted with quite the same level of acclaim but is still a very entertaining series in its own right. Sadly, while all six episodes of More Tales Of The City are available to purchase from Amazon Prime in the UK, there doesn't currently seem to be any way to stream, buy or rent the miniseries in the U.S.
The same is also true for 2001's Further Tales Of The City, which isn't currently available to stream or buy online in the U.S. either. According to JustWatch, the original series of Tales From The City is available to stream from Netflix or hoopla and can be purchased from Prime or iTunes. The franchise also received a high profile revival in 2019 from Netflix, which again saw Linney and Dukakis return, alongside new cast members like Ellen Page (The Umbrella Academy) and Murray Bartlett, who took over the role of Mouse.
This new take on Tales Of The City also received praise, but there don't appear to be any plans for another series at the moment. Hopefully, More Tales From The City will also find its way to streaming services, as currently the only way to revisit the miniseries is via DVD or VHS.

It's pronounced Paw-rick, not Pad-raig. Now that's out of the way, a brief introduction. Padraig has been writing about film online since 2012, when a friend asked if he'd like to contribute the occasional review or feature to their site. A part-time hobby soon blossomed into a career when he discovered he really loved writing about movies, TV and video games – he even (arguably) had a little bit of talent for it. He has written words for Den of Geek, Collider, The Irish Times and Screen Rant over the years, and can discuss anything from the MCU - where Hawkeye is clearly the best character - to the most obscure cult b-movie gem, and his hot takes often require heat resistant gloves to handle. He's super modern too, so his favorite movies include Jaws, Die Hard, The Thing, Ghostbusters and Batman. He can be found as i_Padds on Twitter making bad puns.
